Our Team

David Gumpel, Co-Founder & Managing Director

David has a passion for helping people create change in their lives. Originally studying nutrition in San Francisco and working as a personal chef, David found that simply giving wellnessadvice did not help create sustainable change for his clients. David then discovered an ICF accredited coaching program and began a 2 year training program. Now as a certified Integral Master Coach and Associate Certified Coach he works with individuals in a private practice and facilitates mindfulness in group settings. Using his coaching skills David works closely with the Access Mentors to offer orientations to schools and organizations around NYC. He is currently enrolled in the MBSR teacher certification track and finishing his MA in psychology at the New School.

Cyrus Quadland. Artist, Lead illustrator

I provide illustrations and artwork for Access Mindfulness. My career branched in two directions: global business risk management and art. I worked in the corporate world for over 40 years, retiring in 2014. .I was introduced to mindfulness through MBSR, and became intensely interested in the benefits of the practices especially for school children who are impacted by many life stresses. I  live in New York City with my wife, Joyce and my cat Mia.  I have two grown sons.

Amanda Polster, Mentor, Illustration & Art Team

Creative and artistic forms of expression have always been a passion of mine. As an advocate for social justice, I have always felt that art and art therapy are helpful ways for young people to express themselves and work through personal and environmental distress and trauma. Through research on trauma informed care, the universal implementation of mindfulness practices mirrors the normalization of stress and anxiety in daily life. As advocacy work is incorporated in my daily life, self care practices play a large role in rejuvenating myself to make activism a sustainable practice. I love to run, go through walks in Central Park, participate in yoga, and watch movies during my free time. Along with spending time with my support system, these are a few of the things you may find me doing outside of the amazing progress this team creates together.
